An unexpected start

My adventure in Bali began in quite an unusual way – I landed in Denpasar without any luggage. My gear didn’t make it, so I was left with just my laptop and the clothes I was wearing. It may not have been the most pleasant start, but it’s moments like these that teach us how to handle unexpected challenges. I had to figure out shopping in a new, exotic country, which wasn’t easy, especially with the language barrier. Fortunately, I had a friend who lent me some of his things. It might seem like a small gesture, but it helped me feel less lost in
a foreign place.

Uluwatu

The first stop in Bali was Uluwatu. We rented scooters and headed out to explore the nearby beaches and spectacular cliff-top temples. The landscapes in Uluwatu were breathtaking, and we had a beautiful villa with a pool, which – by Balinese standards – was quite reasonably priced. The cliff-side temples, with their views of the ocean, reminded me of the importance of harmony between nature
and architecture.

Ubud

After Uluwatu, it was time for Ubud – the true heart of the island, famous for its lush jungles, waterfalls, and rice terraces. We visited the Monkey Sanctuary, took walks through the jungle, and stopped by a Hindu temple where we participated in a purification ritual. It was
a unique experience that allowed me to disconnect from daily life and focus on what really matters. While I was there, I also affirmed the return of my luggage, and, surprisingly, the day before the planned party at Savaya, my bag actually arrived! This “lesson” reminded me how sometimes it’s worth trusting the process – whether in travel, work, or life.

Canggu

At the end of our trip, we made our way to Canggu, where we focused on the urban attractions. I immersed myself in local life, visited temples, and soaked up the city rhythm of Bali. It was the perfect complement to the more spiritual part of the journey.

Lessons learned

The trip to Bali taught me flexibility and openness to new experiences. Sometimes in life, we face “luggage shortages,” or unexpected problems that require quick adaptation. Bali reminded me that even the biggest challenges can be turned into an advantage if we maintain an open mind and a creative approach.
